Acrylic signs, made the way we frame.
Best Framing makes custom acrylic signs in Costa Mesa, Orange County: laser cut from your artwork, with the color printed on the back. They are made in the same building, and color-managed in the same lab, as the framed work they hang beside.

How is an acrylic sign made here?
We design a custom CAD file for the laser cutter from your artwork, or from original artwork we design in house, and the laser cuts the acrylic to it.
After cutting the acrylic we print color on the back of it. That gives you any color acrylic you want, instead of the few colors that come in colored sheets.
- Artwork
- Yours, or designed in house.
- Cutting
- Laser cut from the CAD file, or shaped on the Colex CNC table: rounded corners, beveled edges, routed holes and custom outlines.
- Color
- Printed on the back of the acrylic, in any color you want.
- Printing
- Or printed straight onto the acrylic on our 60 × 96 inch UV flatbed. We stock clear acrylic.

Can you match our brand colors?
Yes. Our signage is color-managed in the same lab as our giclée prints, with proofs to confirm the appearance on the selected materials before a press runs.
File preparation and prepress assistance, color management and color matching run through everything the lab prints, from a fine-art giclée to the lettering for a lobby.
They took the time to understand exactly what I wanted and helped me choose the perfect size spacing for our custom logo artwork.
Where do acrylic signs work best?
In lobbies, offices and showrooms, where a sign is read beside framed work and the color has to be the brand’s. The projects that suit us are the ones where the framing, the printing, the signage and the installation are meant to read as one job.
Reception and lobby walls
Your name and logo cut as dimensional lettering, set on the wall the visitor faces first.
Offices and conference rooms
Interior business signage, planned with the art that hangs in the same rooms.
Showrooms and openings
Retail and promotional displays, where the color has to be the brand’s.
Projects with framing in them
The signage, the framing and the printing for one space, made under one roof and answerable to one team.

Do you install the signs you make?
Yes, as part of the project. Site measurements and consultations come first, and our own crew installs the finished work, so the signs in a lobby or an office and the art that hangs there can be planned as one job.
How a sign is fixed depends on the wall it is going on, which is why we come to the wall first: measure it, and talk through what goes where and at what height.
What does a custom acrylic sign cost?
Signs are quoted per project, the way framing is. Bring the space, the artwork or the idea to the counter, or call and describe it. There is no price list, because no two are the same.
- Size
- How large the sign is, and how many pieces or letters it is cut into.
- Shape
- A straight-edged panel, or a custom outline cut on the laser or the CNC table.
- Color
- Printed on the back of clear acrylic, or printed straight onto the face.
- Installation
- Delivered and installed by our crew, or collected from the showroom.
Acrylic is not new to this floor. In 2020, with picture framing deemed inessential, the shop pivoted to making expandable plexiglass shields and kept its team employed, a pivot Forbes covered.
