Canvas prints, printed and stretched under one roof.
Best Framing prints archival giclées on canvas in Costa Mesa, Orange County, and stretches them in house, about thirty steps from the printer. Hang the canvas as it is, or set it in a float frame.
What can you print on canvas?
A photograph, a file or an original painting. If what you have is not a file yet, we scan it on our large-format flatbed at up to 600 dpi first.
Your photograph
Professional photo printing, for a family photograph as much as a professional photographer’s own work, through the same color matching as every print in the lab.
Your file
Bring it to the counter and we look at the canvas and the sizes together with you. Everything we print is color-managed here from your file.
Your original
Scanned at up to 600 dpi and checked by our digital artists, then printed. The original goes back on the wall untouched.

Is a canvas print a giclée?
Ours are. We print archival giclée on canvas with pigment inks, on our 64-inch Epson SureColor P20000.
Every file is prepared, proofed and color-matched at our RIP station before anything is printed. The color is managed on the same floor the canvas is stretched and framed on, which gives us direct control over the finish.

Do you stretch canvas prints in house?
Yes. Canvas giclées are stretched in house. That matters because a stretched canvas is only as good as its corners and its tension, and because the piece never leaves the building to have it done.
Large is not a problem either. When a customer asked for 12-foot floaters, we built four of them in our own wood shop: 144 by 36 inches, on inch-and-a-half stretcher bars.
Great service, really know what they are doing. Had a very large piece that was composed of 2 canvasses. Did a great job merging the 2.
Should a canvas be framed, or hung as it is?
Either works. A stretched canvas can hang exactly as it is, or go into a float frame, which surrounds the canvas with a narrow shadow gap instead of covering its edge, so the piece reads as an object sitting inside the frame rather than a picture behind one.
Which one is right depends on the wall it is going on, and that gets settled in about a minute at the counter with the canvas in front of you.

Floated in white
A floated canvas over the bed and a matched pair over the sofa. One white float moulding and two gilt, in the same room, on purpose.

Framed in walnut
Two framed canvases in walnut mouldings, sized to the wall the screen already owns.
How large can a canvas print be?
Up to 64 inches wide on our giclée printer, an Epson SureColor P20000. The stretching and the framing happen in the same building.

How does a local canvas compare with one ordered online?

We quote canvas prints in person and per piece, because the price follows the size, the stretching and how the canvas is finished. There is no price list. Bring the file or the original to the counter in Costa Mesa and we will quote it there.
How long do canvas prints take?
The turnaround is quoted at the counter, once the size and the finish are decided. If you are working to a date, call first and tell us.

Can you print my phone photo on canvas?
Yes. Bring the file to the counter and we look at the canvas and the sizes together with you. File preparation and prepress assistance, color management and color matching run through every print in the lab.
Gallery wrap or frame?
Both work. A stretched canvas can hang exactly as it is, or go into a float frame, which surrounds the canvas with a narrow shadow gap instead of covering its edge. It takes about a minute to settle at the counter with the canvas in front of you.
Do canvas prints fade?
Our giclée canvas is archival, printed with pigment inks. Daylight still fades pigment over time, so where the canvas hangs matters.
