How to measure for a custom mirror
To measure for a custom mirror, measure the wall, not the mirror: the width and height of the space you would like to fill, the height of whatever sits under it, and where any sconces go. People come in with the size of the mirror they think they want. What we need is the size of the space you would like to fill, because the frame sits outside the glass, and the number that matters is the outside one.
So: bring us the overall dimensions of the space and we will help you select a frame for it. We provide the mirror.
Three things worth knowing before you come
- All of our mirrors are 1/4 inch thick, and can be ordered with or without a bevel. A bevel catches light along the edge; without one the glass reads flatter and more modern.
- Any profile on the moulding wall can frame a mirror, the same way it would frame a print. White oak, walnut, black, brass, or a profile milled in our own wood shop when no catalog carries the finish you are matching.
- Custom mirrors are typically ready for pickup within two weeks, and we confirm the date when you order.
What to bring
The width and height of the wall space, the height of whatever sits under it, and a photograph of the room if you have one. If there are sconces going either side, their positions matter more than anything else on this list.
A mirror is framed by the same hands, on the same production floor, as everything else we frame. If it is too big to carry, our own van delivers in and around Orange County, and our crew installs it.
