Picture frame repair, new glass and reframing.
Best Framing repairs picture frames, replaces glazing and reframes pieces in Costa Mesa, Orange County. Bring in the frame you already own and we will look at it with you at the counter; no appointment required.
What can you bring in for repair?
A frame you already own, or the piece inside it. Bring in the frame for a repair, keep the piece and replace what is around it, or have the piece reframed from scratch. No task is too small: a glass replacement is as welcome at the counter as a whole new frame.
Repair the frame.
Bring in a frame you already own for a repair. What it needs is decided with the frame on the counter.
Replace the glazing.
Keep the piece and replace what is around it: new glazing, a new frame, or both, chosen with one of our designers.
Reframe the piece.
Have the piece inside it reframed, in a new frame designed with you at the counter and crafted by hand in our Costa Mesa warehouse.
Can you replace the glass in my frame?
Yes. Keep the piece and replace what is around it: new glazing, a new frame, or both, chosen at the counter with one of our designers. The new glazing can be UV-protective or museum-quality, so a repair can leave the piece better protected than it was.

Glass replacement.
The glazing is replaced and the piece is fitted back into its frame, cleaned and closed up on the bench.
Better glazing while it is open.
With the frame apart, the new glazing can be UV-protective or museum-quality, chosen with you for the piece.

When is it time for new mats or a new frame?
When the mats or the backing are not acid-free, or the frame no longer suits the piece. Acid in an old mat or backing board burns a brown line into the edge of a print over a few years, and it is not reversible once it has happened, so a reframe replaces it with acid-free materials and a frame chosen for the piece.

Fresh mats, acid-free.
Mat board comes out of the flat-file drawers in our mat room and is cut to the piece. Our store is completely acid-free, mats included.
Wrinkles are no fun.
Divots, waves or crinkles in a suitable print can often be flattened by drymount in our press to acid-free foamcore, so an old print looks crisp in its new frame. We assess each piece first, and discuss conservation options for originals.
What does picture frame repair cost?
It is quoted in person once we have seen the frame. A glass replacement, a repair and a full reframe are different jobs, and the price follows what is being replaced.

Frame repair, asked and answered.
Can you repair a broken picture frame?
Yes. Bring in a frame you already own for a repair, or have the piece inside it reframed. What the frame needs is decided with you at the counter, with the frame in front of us.
Can you replace the glass in my frame?

How much does picture frame repair cost?
It is quoted in person once we have seen the frame, and there is no published price list. A glass replacement, a repair and a full reframe are different jobs, so the price follows what is being replaced.
Should I reframe an old piece?
If its mats or backing are not acid-free, it is worth asking. Acid burns a brown line into the edge of a print over a few years and the damage is not reversible, so a reframe replaces those materials with acid-free ones and gives the piece a frame chosen for it.
How long does a frame repair take?
The turnaround is quoted at the counter when we see the frame, because it depends on what the job needs. Tell us if you need it back by a date.
